# Asteroid Mining

Asteroids can be found and mined in deep space, where the most conflict tends to erupt. In order to mine asteroids, a player must own (and equip) a [droid](/litepaper/game-layout/droids.md). Players that select an asteroid in a node can click the "Mine" button and watch as their droid sifts through the asteroid's contents, mining for precious minerals. The period of time in which the asteroid is fully mined depends on how many players are mining and the level of the droids mining the asteroid. 

Asteroids can be simultaneously mined by many players, but its minerals can be extracted by only one lucky miner. The winning miner must return the minerals to a nearby planet for a reward.
